EDUCATION TEACHING METHODS (60 Hours)

I. OBJECTIVES
 

This program aims at providing training to prospective teachers who would be imparting education to school and college level students. The course spreads over 50 hours of training- 40 hours of theory, 5 hours of peer teaching and another 5 hours of classroom teaching. At the end of the course, the trainee is expected to achieve the following goals:

  1. Be able to impart knowledge effectively and confidently.
  2. Be able to adopt teaching methodologies to suit specific age groups.
  3. Be able to inculcate moral and ethical values in students.
  4. Be able to assess and evaluate teaching outcome and take remedial measures.

First Year
A. Introduction and Philosophy of Education and Education Psychology
  Learning, Cognition and Memory, Learning in Context, Higher Level Cognitive Processes, Cognitive Development, Motivation and Affect
B. Understanding Students – age, problems and solutions
  Personal and Social Development
C. Principles of Teaching
  Instructional Strategies
D. Assessment and Evaluation of teaching
E. Practice Teaching
  Classroom Management Strategies

III. TEXTBOOKS
