SUNNAH AND 'ULOOMUL-HADEETH ‘USOOL AT-TAKHREEJ (60 Hours)

I. OBJECTIVES
 
  1. Educating and training students to apply the rules and terminologies studied.
  2. Training the student on the fundamentals of hadeeth referencing from their original sources and grading them.
II. CLASS CONTENT
Third Year
A. Definition of Takhreej
B. Benefits of Takhreej
C. The Five Methods of Takhreej
  1. Referencing based on Knowledge of Companion narrator; the Reference works and their Styles
2. Referencing based on the first word of the hadeeth text; the relevant reference works, their pros and cons
3. Referencing based on a rarely used word in the hadeeth text.
4. Referencing based on the subject matter of the hadeeth.
5. Referencing based on studying the state of the text and chains of narrators of the hadeeth
Special Note
  This subject requires practical training on how to use the reference works mentioned in the study of the subject. Therefore, the college must have its own library accessible to the students.

  Mahmoud at-Tahhaan, Usool at-Takhreej wa Diraasat al-Masaaneed (Eng. Trans.)
B. Supplementary Texts:
  Texts Relevant to the subject like Ibn Hajar’s Taqreeb at-Tahtheeb, ath-Thahabee’s Meezaan al-I‘tidaal, etc.
